DANCE ARTISTS & DANCE EDUCATORS
Meet the dance artist and dance educator leading the project in Kiruna.
Amanda Marin

Dance artist, Kiruna
Amanda Marin was born and raised in the magical light of Norrbotten’s bright summer nights and the dark, clear cold of the winter northern lights. It was there that movement early on became a strong interest and a passion.
Amanda has Swedish–Finnish roots and is filled with sisu. Sweet and salty like brackish water, they/she/he move through spaces of humour and heartbreak, challenging and transgressing through sparkling passion, honesty, and constant presence that takes shape in energetic imagination.
Amanda has trained in Sweden at Kävesta Folk High School and the Ballet Academy Stockholm professional programme, in Germany at SOZO vim, and in Malta. In their/her/his dance practice, high physicality, imagination, and playfulness/humour are highly valued, with a striving toward fearlessness and transgression. Amanda currently works as a freelance dancer, choreographer, and teacher in Sweden and across Europe, and is also a co-creator and member of the dance collective My Neighbour is a Witch.
Lena Mlimani Rydberg

Dance educator, Kiruna
Lena Mlimani Rydström is a choreographer and educator with roots in Tanzania and Sweden, currently based in Kiruna. Lena is studying Dance Movement Therapy at Waipapa Taumata Rau / the University of Auckland, Aotearoa / New Zealand. She has received her dance training through programmes in Stockholm, France, and England.
In addition to working in Sweden, Lena has also worked in Hungary and Croatia and is currently engaged in collaborative projects in Tanzania.
She has long worked with community dance projects, teaching and creating together with dancers of varied experience - professional and non-professional, of all ages - and often working collectively while weaving other art forms into her teaching. Performances are developed together with the dancers, regardless of experience.
Lena works with dance and movement as language, and with movement as a driving force for creativity - as a way of gaining insight into oneself and others, one’s surroundings, and inner worlds.
